WHO WE ARE

Scott Warnock

Scott Warnock

DIRECTOR

I have over 23 years of consulting experience across disciplines including economics, actuarial, science and tax.  In my role as a co-founder of Pathfinder, my focus is on assisting our clients to identify, claim and substantiate Government grants and incentives.

I first came to Australia from Canada in January 2007 on a two-year secondment with PwC’s Transfer Pricing team. As with most expats living in Australia, I couldn’t leave this amazing country and become an Australian citizen shortly thereafter.

After 5 rewarding years with the Transfer Pricing team, in 2011 I transferred to PwC’s R&D Tax Incentive & Government Grants team.  As one of the R&D Partners on the team, I helped to triple the team’s revenue over six years.

I have been very lucky to have worked with inspiring entrepreneurs and leaders from over 200 of Australia’s most innovative companies.

DIRECTOR

As a co-founder of Pathfinder I have a track record of advising Australia’s most innovative companies with honesty and integrity.

I have been a trusted advisor in R&D Tax Incentives for over 15 years, including stints as a Director at PwC and in-house at Cochlear Limited.

I began my career as a cadet at CSIRO while completing an Honours degree in Chemistry. Following a successful research project and a number of years in commercial R&D, I completed my MBA and transitioned into R&D Tax Incentives at PwC.  Scott and I founded Pathfinder Consulting Group in 2017 – today we assist over 140 Australian companies access the R&D Tax Incentive program.

I remain committed to delivering technically excellent, responsive and professional R&D Tax Incentive advice, centered on our clients’ needs.

R&D ADVISOR

During my chemistry degree, I worked in several research laboratories across the science faculties. After graduating, I spent 3 years in technical sales, with a wide exposure to innovative Australian manufacturing industries, from pharmaceuticals to agriculture, building and cosmetics.

With my interest in innovation piqued, I took up a position as Community Manager at science and engineering incubator Cicada Innovations. There I saw how crucial the R&D Tax Incentive is to innovative companies’ success. It’s this impact I’m drawn to, and the reason I pivoted my career to supporting innovative companies with their R&D Tax Incentive applications.
