We assist over 140 businesses in identifying and documenting eligible activities and expenditure for presentation to AusIndustry and the ATO. We articulate areas of both opportunity and risk, so that your business can be secure in the funding gained from the incentive. We assist start-ups through to ASX listed multi-nationals access cash flow benefits currently worth up to 43.5 cents in the dollar.

Proper management of your business’ innovative activities is essential to ensure that the cost (time, money and opportunity costs) are worthwhile. Properly planning, documenting and managing your projects helps maximise the business outcomes, increases the likelihood (and magnitude) of Government assistance, and ensures that the results can be properly captured, protected and commercialised.

ESIC status can greatly assist in attracting investors. We can assist in confirming and documenting your status, whether you are relying on the objective ‘100 point’ test, or applying to the ATO for a ruling under the ‘high growth potential’ criteria.

As a self-assessment program, many people are surprised when the ATO or AusIndustry challenge the validity of a R&D Tax Incentive claim. Such challenges are becoming more common and can be vigorous, chiefly in response to a number of instances of the program attracting unscrupulous practices. We have an excellent track record of assisting businesses under review, whether the claim was prepared by us or a prior advisor.

We have assisted businesses in accessing millions of dollars in Government Grants such as the Accelerating Commercialisation and Jobs for NSW programs. There is more to the process than the preparation of an application form – we start by advising on the scope of the project, the likelihood of success, the supporting documentation available and the cross-over (if any) with the R&D Tax Incentive program. If the other key aspects (e.g., business plan, IP, funding model) are unlikely to stack up, we can help figure out why, and help you pull it all together.
